Grades 5th through 7th
Christian Brothers School believes that a strong extracurricular program supports the classroom learning environment and provides students with opportunity to grow in a variety of areas. We provide over 20 academic and athletic extracurricular programs that enable boys to
- participate in new experiences,
- set a goal and a plan for attaining that goal, and
- work cooperatively with teammates toward an accomplishment.
We provide students with both competitive, schoolwide team sports and intramural sports. Â Below is a list of all activities we may offer:
Athletics
Baseball (Spring)
The boys' baseball teams are open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in the New Orleans Athletic League (NOAL). Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process.

Basketball (Winter)
The boys' basketball teams are open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in the New Orleans Athletic League (NOAL). Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process. There is also an intramural league in the spring.

Croquet (Spring)
The boys' croquet league offers all boys in 5th through 7th grades the opportunity to learn a classic game.

Cross Country (Fall)
The boys' cross country team is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Runners develop fundamentals and compete at meets across the city. All participants should wear comfortable clothing and good running shoes.

Flag Football (Fall)
The boys' flag football teams are open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in the New Orleans Athletic League (NOAL). Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process.
There is also an intramural program.

Golf (Spring)
The boys' golf team is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in the New Orleans Athletic League (NOAL). Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process.

Lacrosse (Spring)
The boys' lacrosse team and intramural league is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and learn to compete at a high level of lacrosse. Helmets and some equipment are provided by CBS, but players must supply their own stick, cleats, and mouthpiece.

Soccer (Winter)
The boys' soccer teams are open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against other schools in the New Orleans metro area. Players undergo an extensive tryout process. There is also an intramural league in the spring.

Swimming (Fall)
The boys' swim team is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Swimmers develop strokes and compete against schools in the New Orleans metro area.

Tackle Football (Fall)
The boys' tackle football teams are open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in New Orleans metro area. Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process.

Tchoukball (Winter)
The boys' tchoukball league offers all boys in 5th through 7th grades the experience to learn and compete in a Swiss game of athleticism and strategy.

Tennis (Spring)
The boys' tennis team is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players develop fundamentals and compete against schools in the New Orleans Athletic League (NOAL). Players are selected based upon performance in an extensive tryout process.

Wrestling (Spring)
The boys' wrestling league offers all boys in 3rd through 7th grades the experience to learn fundamentals and compete against each other.

Non-Athletic
Academic Games
The boys' Academic Games club is open to all students in 5th through 7th grade. Players practice twice a week to learn the games, and then compete in several matches throughout the year.

Art Club (Spring)
The boys' art club is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Participants meet once per week and learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting. The year concludes with an art show.

Canoe and Kayak Club
The Canoe and Kayak Club is open to all students in all grades and their parents. There are multiple paddles throughout the year at various locations around the Gulf Coast area. Participants can rent a boat or provide their own.

Chess Club
The boys' Chess Club is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Players meet once a week to learn fundamentals and play games.

Cycling Club
The Cycling Club is open to all students in 5th through 7th grade. Riders meet several times throughout the year to ride trails around the New Orleans metro area.

Ecology
The Ecology extracurricular is designed to allow students to observe, study, and collect data about the rich ecosystem available on campus in order to preserve the delicate balance of human and natural activity.

Falcon Band
The Falcon Band is open to all students in 4th through 7th grades. Musicians meet multiple days per week to learn fundamentals and practice songs. The Falcon Band marches in the Krewe of Carrollton each year during Mardi Gras.

Fishing Club
The Fishing Club is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grades. Anglers meet once per week to fish various lagoons around City Park.

Lasallian Youth Organization
The Lasallian Youth Organization (LYO) is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grades. Participants meet once per week for prayer and service opportunities.

Lego Robotics
The Lego Robotics team is open to all students in 5th through 7th grades. Players meet once per week and participate in a city-wide competition.

Makerspace
The Makerspace program is open to all boys in 5th through 7th grade. Participants learn topics such as coding, 3D modeling, and engineering through the lens of problem-solving.

Theater Program
Students in 3rd - 7th grade can participate in the theater program which puts on various productions throughout the year.
